Veet beginner’s guide to pubic hair removal at home
Thinking about going bare down there but not sure where to start? Pubic hair removal doesn’t have to be a daunting task! In fact, it can be part of your skincare routine or hair removal practice.
Whether you’re using wax, hair removal cream, or shaving, there are a few things applicable to any hair removal method. If it’s wax, there will be some temporary discomfort—full stop. Accept it now and you’ll be better for it!
Ahead, we’ll give you the Veet lowdown for beginners looking to remove pubic hair, including what to know ahead of time, so you can set your own standard and be comfortable in your own skin.
What to know before removing pubic hair
We want you to be set up for success before you start your pubic hair removal journey. Below are a few tried and true tips to get you ready.
- Decide on a method.
Waxing, shaving, or hair removal cream? Each has their own benefit and may be better for sensitive or dry skin. You may wonder if Veet wax removes hair from the root, and it does. Waxing pulls hair from the follicle (the root) so it’s longer lasting, up to 28 days to be exact. Shaving and hair removal cream remove hair from the skin’s surface and not the follicle—meaning you may yelp less than waxing. - Schedule how often to remove pubic hair.
This goes hand-in-hand with your method. If you’re going to go the shaving or hair removal cream route, you’ll need to remove pubic hair again in a few days versus a few weeks like with waxing. Make sure you don’t wax before the hair has grown at least a 1/4 inch. - Cleanse and exfoliate
Remove hair with a clean slate, as it were. Twenty-four to 48 hours before, cleanse the pubic hair area thoroughly and exfoliate to remove dead skin cells and dirt. - Prioritize aftercare.
Aftercare is just as important as prepping before hair removal. Don’t sit out in the sun right after removing hair. If you’re going to be near the sun, make sure you’re wearing sunscreen. Moisturize 24 hours after removing hair. Your skin will need nourishment!
